BISHOP Auckland Town Hall has released its summer entertainment programme.

From award-winning films, to touring theatre productions, the venue has hopes to provide something for everyone.

The Baroque Theatre Company will kick off the new season with a triple bill of comedies on Wednesday, May 10. They will begin with the1920s thriller A Jolly Sinister Jape, before taking on Last Tango in Little Grimley, which focuses on an amateur dramatic society trying desperately to increase audiences by putting on a “sizzling sex” comedy. This will be followed by Last Panto in Little Grimley, which features the same incompetent characters tackling a Christmas pantomime.

On Wednesday, June 28, Art with Heart presents Declaration, an autobiographical comedy drama which explores dealing with ADHD as an adult and challenges preconceptions around mental health.

Stand-up will also return to the venue with the popular Hilarity Bites comedy nights. Comedian Alex Boardman headlines the event on Friday, May 19.

Music fans also have plenty to look forward to, with folk band The Happy Cats, led by former Lindisfarne frontman Marty Craggs, playing on Saturday, June 10. Audiences can also hear the songs of rock and roll legends Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison in one performance when Darren Paige and Marc Robinson bring their two-hour show to Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Friday, July 7.

A host of award-winning films will also be screened across the season.
