A GRADUATE businesswoman had a royal appointment to collect her young entrepreneurs award.

Newcastle University graduate Shantelle Million set up her MiCarePlan business developing electronic systems for the care industry, allowing staff to easily document resident information.

The idea came from her experience working as an assistant in homes caring for people with dementia.

She was presented with an award by HRH The Duke of York in a ceremony at Huddersfield University.

In all, 16 Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Awards were presented to students and graduates who have established a successful business.

He said: “All of you will have faced challenges and come up with similar problems that needed solving.

“Universities are good places at being able to solve those problems. Now the challenge is to gain access to the networks that could aid the development of your businesses.”
