A NORTH Yorkshire village has now installed a new welcome sign with support provided to communities affected by the upgrade of the A1 motorway.

The sign now welcomes travellers to Patrick Brompton as they approach from Leyburn on the A684. The sign was donated by Carillion Morgan Sindall JV and their sign-makers, AK Lighting and Signs Ltd of Bishop Auckland. Carillion has been providing support to communities affected by construction of the new stretch of motorway from Leeming Bar to Barton.

Patrick Brompton Parish Council worked to ensure the sign and the plinth it rests on - donated by JJ Wards Haulage - were in place for the arrival of spring. Parish councillor Grahame Shepherd said: “The new sign has made such a positive difference to the western end of the village and with its reflective qualities, it ensures that drivers know exactly where they are.”
