AS A RECIPE for disasters go, this cake certainly takes some beating.
Emma Cale, 25, decided to bake a cake with a self-portrait decoration for a friend’s Hawaiian-themed birthday party in Middlesbrough.
Her attempt ended in cooking catastrophe with lop-sided yellow icing spilling over the edge of the cake with alarmingly red lips, nose and ears to compliment perfectly-circular blue eyes.
The catastrophic creation has seen the 25-year-old research scientist crowned as the winner of a Foodie Faux Paus competition to find the UK’s worst wannabe chef.
Miss Cale fooled her friends into believing she was proud of her baking fail and branded it as a “masterpiece” before making fun of her clumsy cookery and entering the contest organised by Tastecard.
Matt Turner, founder and CEO of Tastecard, said: “We are thrilled to crown Emma as the winner of our Foodie Faux Pas competition.
“We had such fun looking through all of the entries, but Emma’s really stood out for its uniqueness and creativity.
“We applaud her for giving it a go, even though the results are somewhat peculiar.”
