A NINE-year-old girl was taken to hospital last night after being hit by a car.
The girl suffered a serious head injury and was taken to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance after being hit by a Ford Fiesta on Thornaby Road in Thornaby at around 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
The Great North Air Ambulance were called to the incident which happened at the junction with Laburnum Avenue, where the girl was with two of her friends.
The girl is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.
Cleveland Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
