A CARE worker dedicated to improving the quality of life of Darlington residents has earned national recognition for her work.

Becky Liddle, 33, scooped the Frontline Leader of the Year Award during the prestigious Great British Care Awards after spending her entire career in the care industry.

Mrs Liddle became team leader for care providers Making Space before the group took over care provision in the town’s Darlington Borough Council-owned Rosemary Court supported housing facility in 2014.

The supported housing off Blackton Grove, Darlington, now includes a 1950s reminiscence room thanks to Mrs Liddle and it also offers extended end of life provision.

Mrs Liddle beat eight other regional finalists to claim the overall award at the ceremony hosted in Birmingham by Spandau Ballet and ex-Eastenders star, Martin Kemp.

Mrs Liddle said: “I feel ecstatic to have been chosen as a national winner, but also quite humbled as I don’t think I work any differently from my colleagues. We are a great team.”

The 33-year-old’s manager, Lynne Carter, said: “She is creative, goes the extra mile, has a passion for the work she does and has shown she is an excellent frontline leader.”
