SANTA and his team of Darlington helpers raised more than £8,000 for charity last Christmas.
Every year, Santa and his sleigh – ably assisted by the Darlington Boundgate Round Table group – travel around the town, spreading festive cheer while fundraising.
This year, the residents of Middleton St George, Hurworth and Darlington donated £8,168.29 which will be shared among worthy causes in the area.
A spokesman for Santa – and the DBRT – said: “We would like to thank residents for their generous donations and the warm welcome into your streets - none of this would be possible without you.
“We would also like to thank our volunteers who braved the cold weather to bring smiles and Christmas spirit to the local area.”
Anyone who would like to nominate a cause to benefit from the money raised should contact DBRT with their suggestions.
The group, which meets to enjoy a range of activities every fortnight, is also open to new members.
Anyone interested in joining should email matthew_booker@rocketmail.com.
