MOTORING legends of yesteryear turned back the clock in County Durham over Easter.

The 11th Annual Easter Rally took place on Easter Sunday starting from the Cross Keys pub, in Hamsterley, where owners enjoyed a full English breakfast before setting off.

The cars followed a route heading to Wolsingham via Bedburn and then out over the moors towards Edmundbyers.

A stop at Millshield picnic site near Derwent Reservoir, in Northumberland, was an opportunity for drivers and co-drivers to stretch their legs and a good chance to have a catch up and renew old friendships over open bonnets.

The cars, as ever, were the stars of the show.

The next part of the route took them towards Blanchland before making the steep descent into Stanhope via Crawleyside, a true test of the classic's braking ability.

The cars crossed the River Wear at Wolsingham heading towards Hamsterley again before finishing at the Countryman at Bolam where everyone enjoyed a carvery lunch.

After lunch the members remembered classic car enthusiast Gilbert Kellett, who sadly died a few months ago,and who had been on every run in his 1920s Morris Cowley previously.

Neville Wright from Diamond Garage in West Auckland presented the Diamond Garage Trophy to the Car of The Rally which went to Billy Hutchinson from Evenwood, who has owned his Triumph 2000 for 31 years.
