A MAN was attacked and left with serious facial injuries in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police cordoned off part of Station Road in Redcar as they collected evidence following the assault on the 45-year-old.

Inspector Ashley Harvey, of Cleveland Police, said two men had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He said: “The victim did not have life threatening injuries but did have very significant facial injuries as a result of this assault.

“It happened at around 2.10am close to the railway station and we would like to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

“Anyone who saw anything or captured any footage in relation to the incident is asked to call police on 101.”
