TIME is running out for anyone not yet registered to vote to be able to take part in elections this May, the Electoral Commission is warning.
On Thursday, May 4, voters in the Tees Valley Combined Authority Area have the chance to vote for the new position of a Tees Valley Combined Authority Mayor.
To take part in the polls, voters must be registered by the deadline of midnight on Thursday, April 13.
Emma Hartley, head of campaigns at the Electoral Commission, said: βItβs important that anyone who is eligible to vote has the opportunity to participate in elections which will have a direct effect on local issues. Registering to vote is easy to do online and only takes a few minutes.β
