PRIMARY school children showed a spirit of enterprise as they sold their artwork for an Easter fair.

Pupils at Croft C of E Primary, in Croft-on-Tees, near Darlington, held the fair, with an art and enterprise theme, on Wednesday and invited parents along.

Children from different years painted pictures of birds, and watercolours of rabbits and mice, based on the work of Catherine Rayner, made Easter cakes in nets and baskets topped with mini eggs, and decorated egg cups with Creme Eggs inside.

Class 2 pupils from the Christian school also made mini Easter gardens, with little wooden crosses and a stone in the shape of an egg rolled in front of a plant pot.

Croft’s Out of School Club also had a stall to raise funds for a new games console.

The fair follows the success of the school’s Christmas Fair, which raised £600 for the school to buy laptop computers. Children worked out all their costs and profit margins ahead of the event.
