A TEENAGER has appeared in court accused of causing a fatal crash on a Bishop Auckland bypass more than a year ago.
Katie Foster is charged with causing the death of Lee Cain by driving a VW Polo dangerously on the A688 near West Auckland on Monday, March 21 last year.
With members of her family present to offer support, the 19-year-old from Carisbrooke Crescent in Etherley Dene, Bishop Auckland, spoke only to confirm her name and address when she appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Thursday afternoon.
District Judge Helen Cousins adjourned the case to Durham Crown Court on May 4 and granted Miss Foster unconditional bail until then.
Mr Cain, 36, was from West Cornforth, in County Durham, and worked at the family's tyre fitting business in Spennymoor.
