NEWBORN lambs are arriving again at a nature reserve which saw more than 50 sheep killed as a result of dog attacks last year.

RSPB Saltholme, near Stockton-on-Tees, is welcoming the return of lambs to the fold after a spate of attacks in December 2015/16.

And visitors to the discovery park and wildlife reserve are being invited to take a break from the Easter chocolate and join the team for Lambing Live.

Young lambs will be taking their first steps into the lambing shed from April 8 until April 23.

Dave Braithwaite, Saltholme’s Site Manager said: “In 2016 we weren’t able to hold our lambing event following the traumatic and distressing events of December 2015/January 2016 when dogs attacked many of our sheep and over 50 died directly as a result.

“This year, we’re determined to move on from the attacks and introduce even more families to the newest members of the Saltholme family as Lambing Live returns.”

Saltholme is open from 9.30am to 5.00pm. Entry is £5 per car (free for RSPB members). Some activities carry extra charges. For more information, visit rspb.org.uk/Saltholme
