A PARISIAN ball has helped a bereaved family bring the fundraising total of the late brain tumour blogger Anna Swabey to £112,000.

The Midnight in Paris-themed event was held to continue the Swabey family's campaign to raise awareness and cash for brain tumour research.

Miss Swabey was just 25 years old when she lost her battle in September last year but her Newton Aycliffe family are determined to pursue her fight to help others in the same situation.

Her sister Victoria Cartwright said: "The evening was a black tie event where all our guests were glammed up for the evening which Anna would have loved.

"We had a few pictures of Anna sat below some fairy lights next to our raffle and auction displays just so that we felt like she was with us.

"Our total raised for the evening was in excess of £2,250 which we were so so pleased with."

The money raised at the ball at Woodham Golf and Country Club will go towards the Brain Tumour Research Campaign.

"While the pain of losing Anna will never go away, as a family we have all taken some comfort in continuing to keep her legacy going," added Ms Cartwright. "Increasing Anna's already amazing total is vital to ensure that the charity can continue to develop new treatments and hopefully one day be able to save a life like Anna's."
