A MAJOR music festival planned for the North-East this summer has been cancelled.
Organisers of the three-day Festival On The Wall, due to take place in Northumberland in August, announced today that the gig would not take place.
The Libertines, Mark Ronson and Pet Shop Boys were among the artists lined up for the open-air festival on private farmland near Horsley.
In a statement placed on the festival’s Facebook page, promoters said that “after serious consideration and with an incredibly heavy heart” the show had been cancelled.
The statement added: “For the past two years we have put our heart and soul into creating the event that the North East deserves, showcasing everything that is great about this region.
“Unfortunately, several significant operational challenges have made it impossible to continue, and at this point we are left with no choice but to make this very difficult decision”.
Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund and anyone with questions is advised to email info@festivalonthewall.com.
