MASTERCLASSES for emerging musicians are being held as part of a forthcoming festival in the North-East.

Organisers of Evolution Emerging in Newcastle have confirmed the return of their annual artist development sessions.

Generator is offering performers the chance to gain essential insight, thought-provoking debate and practical advice to help develop strategies to help build regional and national audiences along with industry awareness.

Generator’s talent development events co-ordinator Ged Robinson said: “We are really pleased to continue this additional support for Evolution Emerging artists, alongside the showcase opportunity they can develop their knowledge of the music business and learn about publishing, working with records labels, the live industry, artist management, attracting press and radio as well as how to plan their releases.

“This professional development alongside existing creative talent is crucial to build industry awareness and audiences, artists will also benefit from sessions from PRS for Music and The Musicians’ Union along with experience of interviews with regional press and radio.”

The masterclass is from 11am-5pm on Saturday, April 6, in the Toffee Factory, in Ouseburn, Newcastle. Entry is free for Evolution Emerging artists.
