POLICE have today charged a 43-year-old man with the murder of Stanley Burgon in Hartlepool.
The man, who is also from the town, is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 32-year-old woman previously arrested on suspicion of assault has been released with no further action.
Cleveland Police were called to Rydal Street, Hartlepool, at 10.43pm on Friday November 18 last year.
It followed reports of a man with serious head injuries.
Mr Burgon, 56, was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, where he died on Monday, November 21.
The 42-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and he, along with the woman, were granted police bail while enquiries continued.
