BBC television and radio presenter Sara Cox is just one of the star attractions heading to Newby Hall this summer.

The Ripon stately home reopens for the season on Saturday, April 1 and has released details of a packed schedule of events.

Towards the end of the season, Newby will host a Street Food Family Fun Festival from September 22 with a huge range of street food vendors, alongside entertainers, outdoor cinema and big name DJs including BBC Radio 2 DJ and Pottery Throwdown presenter. Sara Cox.

The festival is the brainchild of Cathy McConaghy from Streat PR who was behind the hugely successful Street Food Festival in Harrogate’s Valley Gardens last year.

Preceding the festival is a variety of events such as the Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show which is moving to Newby in July for the first time in its 104 year history.

Alongside the new events are ever popular attractions including the Tractor Fest, Sports Cars in the Park, Italian Car and Bike Rally, Historic Vehicle Rally and the Fireworks Championships which all take place in May and June.

Stuart Gill, commercial director said: “The family is at the heart of Newby and we were looking at bringing new events for our visitors new and old to enjoy.

“The combination of a traditional country show on one hand and a vibrant Street Food Festival on the other shows that here at Newby, we embrace the traditions of our rural setting, with an eye towards what the modern family is looking for in a day out.”

Also new for this year is the shell design in the Garden Pavilions at the bottom of the herbaceous borders.

York-based designer Linda Fenwick has created stunning panels using sea shells to decorate the interior of the pavilions.
