A YOUNG musician has discovered that her uncontrollable twitch in her arm miraculously disappears when she plays piano.

Sarah Fisher, who suffers from cerebral palsy, developed involuntary arm movements as a side effect of her medication.

The 23-year-old’s left arm vigorously shakes and lashes out, however as soon as she sits on a piano stool and begins to play, the twitch instantly stops.

She said: “To begin with I just played with my good arm, but when I introduced the one with the twitch I was amazed to discover it completely calmed down.

“I am not sure exactly why it happens but playing the piano completely stops the involuntary arm movements, it gives me something else to focus on.”

Sarah, resident musician at Sage Gateshead, added: “Doctors still don’t really know exactly why I have the twitch, which is a little bit frustrating, but it isn’t holding me back”.
