A UNIQUE modelling and acting agency, which specialises in representing people with disabilities, is looking for new faces.

Social care professional Laura Johnson and her sister-in-law, performing arts teacher Zoe Proctor, established Zebedee Management as they wanted to see better representation of people with disabilities within fashion, media and the arts.

The pair have held a series of photo shoots across Yorkshire, which have developed models’ portfolios, and have worked with a number of designers and retailers.

Laura, originally from Hovingham, near Helmsley, said: “The Government minister for disabled people has called on gaming, fashion and media industries to increase the representation of people with disabilities, so in that respect we have the backing of Government.

“In addition, there has been a lot of discussion around getting more people with disabilities into paid employment - and this is what we hope to do, create opportunities for people with disabilities.”

Photographer Shelley Richmond, who is from Terrington, has taken the photographs.

“Zebedee want to see more people with disabilities on television, in magazines, online and in films,” said Shelley.

“We believe that people with many unique characteristics should have the same opportunities as ‘mainstream’ artists and we are working with people within the media to make this happen."
