CANCER battler Bradley Lowery is buzzing with excitement as he prepares to lead out England alongside his best friend Jermain Defoe at Wembley on Sunday.

The five-year-old of Blackhall, County Durham, was undergoing his latest bout of treatment on Friday to give him a boost ahead of his England mascot debut in the match against Lithuania.

On his Facebook page ‘Bradley Lowery’s Fight Against Neuroblastoma,’ mum Gemma Lowery wrote: “Bradley’s had his first hair cut since his hair grew back and he loves it.

“He took his top off to get the photo taken as he wanted to show everyone his muscles apparently.

“He is back at hospital (on Friday) to get a blood and platelet transfusion ready to give him plenty of energy for the football on Sunday.

“He is back to hospital next week for the final round of treatment before he gets his scans.”

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live Gemma added: “He is really excited. He has been talking about going to Wembley since he was told.

“Then to find out that Jermain is going to be there as well ... that totally topped it for him.

“We were absolutely over the moon to hear that Jermain has been chosen, because I have been telling Bradley for weeks to remember that Jermain is not going to be there.

“I have been telling him “you are going to be walking out with somebody else” and trying to prepare him for it. Then all of a sudden we were told that Jermain has been called up.”

His mum said: “ To have all the experiences he is having at the minute? It is just so surreal. Not only for him. It gives us all memories that we can carry for the rest of our lives as well.”
