A PARTY atmosphere is promised as the call goes out for people to walk the historic streets of York while raising money for a good cause.

The popular annual Midnight Walk in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice will be held on June 10 and the theme this year is “Ready, Set, Glow.”

Starting from York College, the walk takes in a 6.5 mile circular route across the Knavesmire, along the River Ouse and then on to the sights and sounds of the city centre, and back again - with a bacon sandwich and a cuppa waiting at the end.

A team of friendly marshals will be on hand along the way to ensure everyone is safe and having a great time.

Hospice fundraiser Katie Jackson said: “This year the Midnight Walk is open to all - men, women and children, so get your team together and paint the town neon.

“People are encouraged to glow for St Leonard’s on the night, whether that is with a single glow stick or head-to-toe neon.”

The early bird discounted entry price is £15 for adults and £10 for children, available until 9am on Monday, April 3 after which prices will rise to £17 and £12 respectively. Tickets are available at stleonardshospice.org.uk
