DAMSON fool, chocolate parfait and crusted rack of lamb are just some of the tempting treats to be discovered inside a new recipe book aimed at raising funds for a rural hospital.

The Friends of Weardale Community Hospital in Stanhope turned to the people of the Durham Dales when it came to finding recipes for their latest fundraising project. And the people of Weardale did not let them down, sending in a host of family favourites.

Highlights include an indulgent chocolate torte from Sue Snowden, the Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, and a selection of tasty preserves from Glenis Robinson, who worked at the hospital for more than 30 years.

With support from Weardale Area Action Partnership, the charity has printed 1,000 copies, which can be bought at the hospital, Friends events, the Weardale Gazette office in Stanhope and at thefriendsofweardalecommunityhospital.org priced at £8.
