A LITTLE dog had a lucky escape after she slipped down the face of a disused quarry yesterday.
Ruby, a female terrier type dog, fell over the edge of a quarry near East Lane in Stanhope, County Durham, while walking with her owner at about 1.30pm.
Her owner phoned County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and two crews from Stanhope and Peterlee fire stations attended.
The firefighters used special ‘working at height’ kit to reach Ruby who was stranded five metres down the quarry face.
Thankfully, Ruby received no injuries during the incident and was reunited with her relieved owner.
Firefighters left the scene shortly after 3pm.
