TEES Valley Mayoral candidate Chris Foote-Wood lost out when he competed in daytime TV show Bargain Hunt on Friday.

Liberal Democrat Mr Foote-Wood, brother of the late comedian Victoria Wood, took part on the popular show with friend and retired Methodist minister Alan Powers.

They were filmed choosing their items for auction at the Wetherby Racecourse sale before the auction at Darlington auctioneers Thomas Watson in Northumberland Street. The friends, both 76, lost touch 30 years ago but were reunited two years ago when they found they had independently moved to Darlington two years ago, and just two streets apart.

On the show two of their three items made a profit, but overall they loost £22. They were beaten by mother and son team Susan and Ryan Robson of County Durham, who made a profit of £60.
