RUDY GESTEDE has sought to clear up a controversial incident in the second half of Middlesbrough's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United by insisting that NEITHER he nor Eric Bailly were involved in a bite.

Tempers flared in the closing stages of Boro's defeat at the Riverside, with Ben Gibson appearing especially incensed by the clash involving Gestede and Bailly.

Television pictures showed the pair coming together, and appeared to suggest that both players might have attempted to bite their opponent.

Neither manager was willing to provide clarification on the incident in their post-match interviews, but Gestede has insisted that there was no biting.

The Boro striker admits he and Bailly clashed, but is adamant there was no suggestion of a bite.

He said: "We had a few words together, it was nothing major. He gave me a hug and a kiss, that’s it. I didn’t feel anything.

"Ben thought he bit me, so that’s why he reacted like he did. But I told him now we were just talking, there was no problem."
