RESIDENTS of a Darlington care home have given it a massive seal of approval in a national survey.

North Park Care Centre was received an overall performance rating (OPR) score of 927 out of 1,000 – compared to the national average of 880.

Now in its fifth year, the Your Care Rating survey is the country’s largest assessment of care home residents, which gives people a voice and puts their care at the heart of how well care homes perform.

Each care home was given an overall score based on residents’ feedback across four broad themes – staff and care; home comforts; choice and having a say; and quality of life.

The care home achieved scores of 955 for ‘Quality of life’ and 943 for ‘Staff and care’. More than 18,000 residents in 914 care homes across the UK took part in the survey.

Mark Culley, general manager at the care centre, said: “I’m so glad that the people we care for highly rate the services offered at North Park Care Centre and that we scored well across all four themes. While we’re really pleased with our scores, we are committed to continually improving our dementia and residential services and listening to feedback from residents and their relatives.”

All of this year’s results for every care home surveyed are displayed on the Your Care Rating website at www.yourcarerating.org

The website also shows how homes that took part in the survey last year performed.

The survey was compiled by leading research company Ipsos MORI with input from the care home operators taking part, plus the National Care Forum and Care England.
