A RAPIDLY improving primary school has been rated good by inspectors.

Browney Academy, near Meadowfield, was given the rating following an Ofsted inspection in February.

Headteacher Catherine Harris said: “We are so incredibly pleased to receive an inspection report that confirms what we all knew here at Browney Academy – that this is a wonderful small school.

“In recent years, staff have worked extremely hard to raise standards and outcomes for our children.”

The school has recently installed a new woodland village playground to help children develop their outdoor learning.

Inspectors praised the school’s leadership, improvements to the building and playground, early years provision and said teaching had improved substantially since becoming an academy.

The report says: “The headteacher and executive headteacher have worked together exceptionally effectively to transform the school into a vibrant and successful establishment in a short period of time.”
