THREE of the UK’s biggest tribute acts are to share a stage at a new music festival.

Tributes to Oasis, U2 and The Killers will perform in Peterlee on Saturday, May 27.

The three headline acts will be joined by five local support bands for the all-day Fake Festival show at Eden Lane Park starting at noon.

It is the first Fake Festival date in the town, following the success of the annual shows at Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street, which this year will take place on August 5.

Ian Morris, organiser of Peterlee Fake Festival, said: “Fake Festivals always have a brilliant atmosphere, so I’m exciting to be bringing the event to Peterlee.

“We’re also providing a unique opportunity for local bands to perform to a festival crowd and for them to engage with people from their local area who might not have previously seen them”.

A Battle of the Bands will take place at The Pavilion in Peterlee on April 29 to select bands to share the stage.

Early bird tickets, priced £18 for adults and £10 for young people, are on sale until April 27 at fakefestivals.co.uk.
