THIRSK Racecourse is hosting a theatre production for the first time.
Cold Comfort Farm will be performed by The Livewire Theatre Group on March 9, 10 and 11.
The group have previously taken successful productions to the Edinburgh Festival and the cast is made up of actors from North Yorkshire and London.
The play, which will be staged in the racecourse’s Hambleton Rooms, is being held in memory of Dales community stalwart Pip Orde-Powlett, also known as Lady Bolton.
It is also in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington and the Injured Jockey’s Fund.
Cold Comfort Farm was written by Stella Gibbons in 1932 and has been recreated many times for both the stage and screen.
It follows the fortunes of the rural Sussex Starkadder family and their orphan relative Flora Poste who moves in and tries to inject some metropolitan sophistication into the household.
Tickets are £25 and include dinner afterwards. Visit https://fixr-app.com/event/12798 to book.
