ONE of the best-selling artists of all time has announced a date in County Durham – one of just two UK mainland concerts this year.
Tickets will go on sale later this week for Rod Stewart’s concert at Durham County Cricket Club, in Chester-le-Street on Friday, June 9.
Aside from headlining at the Isle of Wight festival on June 11, the rock star will only be playing one other gig in the UK in 2017, in Shrewsbury on February 7.
The new dates follow his sell-out UK Hits stadium tour and From Gasoline Alley to Another Country tour in 2016.
The concert at the Riverside ground will feature classic hits and new music from his latest album.
The two concerts are presented by Cuffe and Taylor, who promoted Rod’s eight-date UK Hits Tour.
Director Peter Taylor said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Rod again this year. These are two very special concerts ahead of the Isle of Wight Festival and we expect them to be hugely popular.
“We have now worked with Rod on numerous occasions and the reception he receives is always absolutely fantastic.
“Rod continues to entertain both his loyal followers and a new generation of fans at every concert and we expect Durham and Shrewsbury to be no exception.”
The live show in Chester-le-Street will feature songs from his five decades of producing music, including Maggie May, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, Baby Jane, The First Cut is the Deepest and I Don’t Want to Talk About it.
He will also perform music from his latest platinum album Another Country, which debuted at number two.
Rod Stewart is one of the best-selling artists in the history of recorded music, with more than 200 million records sold worldwide.
He has had six number one albums in the UK and 31 top ten singles, of which six have been number one.
