WITH rugby’s RBS Six Nations under way people are being encouraged to get involved in the sport.

Acklam Rugby Club in Middlesbrough is relaunching its free Return to Rugby sessions which is aimed at adults that would like to try rugby or have played in the past and would like to play again.

Club coach Mike Dickons said: “Rugby is in decline in the North-East with games regularly called off when clubs are unable to field teams.

“Return to Rugby is all about trying to get people play again – all too often players feel they’re no longer capable of training with a senior squad and therefore will never play again.

“We’ve been successfully running these sessions over the last five years, and in the process kept players in a sport which they might otherwise have left.

“The sessions are an enjoyable reintroduction to rugby, and those taking part can also look forward to a boost in terms of fitness and confidence."

The club is also on the look-out for new blood, with teams in its Junior section ranging from Under 7s up to Under 18s.
