A MOUNTAIN rescue team were called to help a man who suffered an injury while taking part in an endurance race.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were called to help a competitor at Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales at 10.30pm on Tuesday, January 17.

He had been taking part in a winter endurance challenge when he suffered an injury to his leg.

Police called out the rescue team who found the casualty.

The group reported the man was well equipped and had managed to keep himself warm on the fell while the event organisers and rescue team arrived. He was treated at the scene by an event doctor and medics, then evacuated by the team in the fog.
