BIG screen sci-fi action has invaded the classroom at a Barnard Castle school.

Green Lane CE Primary School started a new topic, May the Force be with You, with a visit from Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi on Monday. He issued the whole school with a design technology challenge to work in groups to design and build a new space craft for him and his fellow Jedis.

Jedi School continued all week with all lessons and activities based on the theme.

Pupils worked out their Star Wars names and watched film clips of the more unusual characters. Two more Jedi Masters, courtesy of Histrionics, spent the day on Wednesday running Jedi training session with finished with a light sabre demonstration for the whole school.

Each class will now follow different aspects of the theme from space and extreme weather studies to creative writing.

Headteacher, Paula Ford, said: “Truly the Force is strong in this school.”
