TEESSIDER Glen Durrant, who won the BDO World Darts Championship, on Sunday says he cannot wait to get back to work.

The Middlesbrough number one seed defeated Dutchman Danny Noppert 7-3 in the final at the Lakeside Coutry Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, on Sunday evening.

Durrant posted a photo of the trophy on Twitter resting on pillows, with the words: "Can't wait till I get back to the day job tomorrow @cchousingonline @Risim52 - This paper weight will be a great addition to my desk."

Durrant works as an estate manager for Coast and Country Housing.

The opening exchanges of the match were nip-and-tuck, with the pair going into the break tied at three sets all.

But Durrant, nicknamed Duzza, turned up the heat after the interval and the turning point appeared to come when Noppert missed his favourite double 12, which would have levelled the match at 4-4.

The Middlesbrough man never looked back and he rattled off the remaining sets to take his first world title, following in the footsteps of previous winners including John Lowe, Eric Bristow, Jockey Wilson and Phil Taylor.
