LOCOMOTION: The National Railway Museum at Shildon will feature an exhibition by members of Durham Photographic Society (DPS) this month which celebrates the North-East’s unique place in the history of the steam railway.

Members of DPS have been at the forefront of this branch of their art to produce “On Track”, a display of recently captured photographs.

Many of the pictures featured were shot in and around the Locomotion in Shildon and other North-East railway sites such as Tanfield Railway, Beamish Museum, Bowes Railway and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

The exhibition will be on display in the Collection Building at Locomotion from Wednesday, January 4, to Monday, February 13.

The museum is open every day from 10am until 4pm and parking and admission are free of charge. For more information, call the museum on 01388-777999.

DPS meets every Thursday in St Oswald’s Church Institute, Durham, at 7.30pm.
