A MAN will appear in court in relation to a viral video that sparked concerns over the conduct of a taxi driver.
Earlier this week, Boro Taxis confirmed they had terminated the contract of one of their drivers after becoming aware of accusations linked to the video.
The footage documents a confrontation between the middle-aged driver and a passing stranger, who accused the driver of luring a 19-year-old woman to the secluded Docklands Road, close to Grangetown near Middlesbrough.
The man became suspicious after driving past the taxi and spotting the driver with the teenager in the back seat.
Initially, Cleveland Police said no offences had taken place but have now confirmed that a man has been charged with sexual touching in relation to the alleged incident.
The 35-year-old will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court in January.
Licensing authority Stockton Borough Council are also investigating the incident after Boro Taxis reported it to them.
