AN outspoken politician's visit to the region was viewed by thousands of people across the world.

George Galloway was greeted by a packed house when he arrived in Darlington to host a screening of his film, The Killings of Tony Blair.

A sold-out event at The Forum, in the town's Borough Road, saw Mr Galloway introduce the crowd-funded documentary before fielding questions from audience members.

The question and answer session was broadcast live from the venue to thousands of Mr Galloway’s followers across the world.

It saw him share his thoughts on a variety of subjects, from Brexit to a Donald Trump presidency and Tony Blair’s possible return to politics.

Mr Galloway’s film critically explores the former PM’s role in the Iraq war and his profitable actions since leaving Downing Street.

At the event, George Galloway predicted Mr Blair would make a return to Parliament and pledged to stand against him if he ever stood for election.

He said: “Am I bitter about Tony Blair?

“I’m very bitter, but I’ve been bitter about him for a long time – from the first time I set eyes on him, I knew he was a wrong one.

“I knew there would be nothing but tears to come from his leadership but I didn’t realise that there would be quite so much blood, too.”

The film screening was organised by the Waking Up to Climate Change initiative and supported by Darlington Film Club.
