A COMMUNITY centre and a town band have had a welcome funding boost.

That’s after the Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Peter Atkinson, recently presented a cheque for £800 to Veronica Birchall of Ferryhill LADDER Centre as well as a cheque for £1,000 to Eric Schlosser, of Ferryhill Town Band, on behalf of Ferryhill Town Council.

The LADDER Centre will put their donation towards the running costs of the building which will allow it to continue providing services to local people.

Ferryhill Town Band will also use the money for running costs as they continue to perform for the town.

A town council spokesman said: “Ferryhill LADDER Centre are involved with many community issues and are a very important asset to Ferryhill. “

She added: “These donations are an example of the town council’s commitment to supporting local organisations working for the benefit of the community in Ferryhill.”
