PUPILS from Stockton schools were treated to a morning of mystery and murder when an award-winning children’s author came to visit.

Robin Stevens, author of the mystery book series Murder Most Unladylike, came to talk to the Years 5, 6 and 7 pupils about her fifth, and latest book, Mistletoe and Murder published by Puffin Children’s Books.

Inspired by a love of mystery novels as a child, Ms Stevens went on to study crime fiction at university.

During an author session at North Shore she shared a glimpse of her own school days at boarding school which inspired her to write her popular series.

The pupils were also invited to take part in a detective quiz and were encouraged to create and solve a mystery of their very own.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This event is the latest in a series of thrilling author events organised by our Libraries Service which gives young people across the Borough an opportunity to meet authors in the flesh. The children were captivated by Robin’s tales of her past and her crime fiction storytelling, and I can imagine many of them may now be inspired to delve deep into their imagination and write a mystery of their own.”
