COUNTERFEIT plugs and chargers may save you money but could cost your life, say firefighters.
Today, crews from the County Durham and Darlington Fire Rescue Service (CDDFRS) will launch their Electrical Fire Safety Week.
Firefighters will be stationed at Curry’s on the Yarm Road retail park to offer advice to customers.
Dave Ratcliffe, of CDDFRS, said: “People will be tempted to buy counterfeit goods online or elsewhere that are not good quality and don’t meet British standards.
“You might save money but it could kill you or start a house fire that causes damage and stress.
“It’s not worth thinking about and is something that doesn’t need to happen.”
Sean Brady, from Currys, added: “They (counterfeit electricals) will be in people’s homes and it’s important to us that our customers are as safe as possible.”
