A PAIR of loveable pooches are hoping their Halloween masks don’t scare off potential new owners.

The Dogs Trust Darlington is hoping to find homes for Rocco, the three-year-old Akita, and Lady, a two-year-old Whippet.

Rocco, whose distinctive face, dark eyes and pointy ears have made him a big hit with canine carers at the rehoming centre remains overlooked by potential owners.

Sue Embleton, rehoming centre manager, said: “Rocco is such a lovely, big dog but I his size can put people off. Very often he is compared to a vampire bat, however I don’t think vampire bats smile quite as much as Rocco.

“We are appealing to families who have experience of caring for larger breed dogs to come forward and offer this cheeky chap a home to call his own.

“Lady is a lovely young girl who is full of energy and fun. She absolutely adores getting attention and really enjoyed her Halloween photoshoot. She’s quite the superstar.”
