REAP what you sow was the lesson taught to school pupils who braced the cold to plant spring bulbs in their town centre.
Chilton Town Council Mayor Elizabeth Bruce joined pupils of Chilton Primary School to plant daffodil and crocus bulbs next to the new health centre.
Teacher Kate Young said year two pupils look forward to it every year.
“It’s lovely to come and support the mayor and help develop our local community. We are learning about seasons at the moment so the bulb planting fits in with that topic,” she said.
“We look forward to bringing them back in Spring and showing them the flowers.”
Students from Windlestone School, Chilton, also turned out to lend a hand.
Teacher Alan Joyce said: “As a school we like to partake in community projects when we can, especially those that enhance the area.”
Cllr Bruce added: “We have done this now for a number of years, most of the flowers throughout the village have been planted by school children.
“It’s the first year Windlestone have joined us and it’s great to have the community come together and get involved.
“We will continue to plant bulbs throughout the village annually for as long as we can.”
