A BOMB disposal squad was called to Teesport after a suspicious package was reported to have been found on a cargo ship in the dock.
The team were dispatched to the area from their Catterick base to inspect the package.
As checks were carried out police warned the public to avoid the area "until further notice".
However, it was confirmed on Thursday that no explosive device was found in the package and that there was no threat to members of the public.
Enquiries to establish why the package was left in the area are ongoing.
