A MIDDLESBROUGH fan has pleaded not guilty to a charge of 'threatening behaviour' following trouble at a recent Premier League match between Boro and Crystal Palace.
William Harold Myers, of Hillcrest Drive, Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, will now be tried at Teesside Magistrates Court in January.
The 51-year-old was arrested following clashes with Crystal Palace fans near Middlesbrough Train Station last month.
The court heard that Mr Myers had become frustrated with police for allegedly not dealing with violent and aggressive Palace fans before the home side's 2-1 defeat.
Mr Myers was known to police in a positive way because he organises away match coaches and informs police officers of the arrangement, the court was told.
He will be tried on January 16 also at the magistrates court. Mr Myers spoke only to confirm his identity and to plead not guilty to any offence. He was charged with just one offence of threatening behaviour.
