AN extra care housing scheme has been given the go ahead in a North Yorkshire town.
The 54 unit project in Boroughbridge is the first of a new generation of similar sites planned for the county.
The county council has struck a deal with social care companies Ashley House and Home Group to develop the new building, which will house 22 affordable rental units and 32 shared ownership units, all with one or two bedrooms.
A planning application will now go in for the scheme, and council social care boss Cllr Clare Wood said the new homes would help the next generation of people who will need care and support at home.
