A VOLUNTEER-run tourist information service has been hailed a centre of excellence.
Bedale Tourist Information Centre, in Bedale Hall, was praised for its comprehensive service to visitors and locals by Richmondshire MP Rishi Sunak. He said: “Bedale TIC is a veritable treasure trove of information. The amount of volunteer activity in Bedale is amazing and this a great example of community effort and spirit.”
The centre, run by 40 volunteers, operates six days a week during spring, summer and autumn, fielding 8,000 enquiries and is also open two days a week during winter. Volunteers also helped the MP gather views for an inquiry into rural tourism.
