TWO hooded robbers put a woman motorist through a terrifying ordeal after they tricked her into stopping in the early hours of the morning.

The 22-year-old local woman was driving along the A172 towards Stokesley at 1am on September 18 – a Sunday – when the incident happened.

As she approached a set of crossroads near Faceby, she noticed the vehicle behind her was flashing its headlights.

She pulled over and two hooded men got out of the following vehicle and approached her car. They robbed the woman, took money from her and physically assaulted her before leaving.

Detective Constable Neil Brodhurst said: “We are asking for anyone who may have been travelling along the A172 at the time, or who were in the area between midnight and 2am, who may have witnessed anything or noticed anything suspicious to contacts us."

He added: "Thankfully incidents of this nature are very rare in North Yorkshire and I would like to reassure the local community that officers from the local safer neighbourhood team are continuing patrols in the area, to gather any further information about the incident and provide reassurance to local residents."
