WHITBY’S tourist information centre is to move to new premises next month as Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern prepares to open up a new restaurant at its existing venue.
The centre will move to Scarborough Borough Council’s harbour office on Monday, October 3, which is a short distance away on the same street in Whitby, Langborne Road.
The centre will continue to provide its full range of tourism-related services at the new venue.
Other non-tourism services currently offered by the council’s Customer First team at the venue will be delivered by the council’s benefits team at Job Centre Plus on Bobbies Bank after the move.
The tourist information centre building, which overlooks Whitby Harbour, is being leased to Michelin-starred chef, Andrew Pern and business partner, Mike Green.
They are opening a new brasserie-style restaurant, to be known as The Star Inn The Harbour, which is due to be completed in spring/summer next year.
