FOUR arrests have been made in North Yorkshire after police tracked down suspected burglars just 30 minutes after the crime had been reported.

North Yorkshire Police road policing group said a car reported stolen was spotted on the A1 last night and was stopped despite the vehicle "ramming" into the squad car.

In a tweet from the road policing group, it was reported that the stolen car was safely stopped near Leeming Lane on the A1.

A second tweet credited the results to support from various policing groups including the automated number plate recognition technology, the force control room, dog section and firearms unit.

Four people have been arrested.
